Fundraising appeal launched for Solar pannel system.
Our Jamia (formerly known as madrassah lil banaat ehle islam) is dedicated to providing quality religious and education and spiritual guidance to female students. Currently our 6 teachers are teaching over 50 plus books per day in the following courses.
Dars E Nazami year 1 through to year 6 (8 year course)
Qaida & Nazra class – morning class and after school class,
Hifz Class (full and part time)
Miscellaneous short courses taught thorough out the year as well as gatherings organised by student for various Islamic dates/events throughout the year.
Recent challanges The rising cost of electricity, combined with the load shedding and the extreme heat that we experience during the daytime has become a significant burden both on the health of our students and also on the financial running of the Jamia.
This year we have had students faint during class times, as well as suffered a vast increase in absences due to heat related illness.
Previously, this situation was catered for by utilising a battery backup power supply system (UPS) but this requires adequate timing between periods of power outages for the system to recharge. This would provide a basic backup power supply to essential areas of the building.
The lack of electricity combined now with the extortionate cost of electricity, means this system fails to provide backup electricity as it does not have a chance to replenish its batteries but also the cost of electricity is extortionate.
We are in desperate need to explore other avenues as this issue is now diverting much-needed finances away from our core educational programs.
After consulting other institutes and understanding how they have tackled this issue, and studying many case studies, we have decided the ultimate solution is to utilise the most common method of mitigating these issues with the use of a solar panel system to power our institution.
The installation of solar panels will not only reduce our electricity costs but also allow our students to study the sacred religion in a comfortable climate controlled environment thus increasing productivity and moral whilst maintaining their health.
This project aligns with our values of sustainability, self-reliance, and responsible resource management, and also puts the Jamia on the best footing for our future expansion goals.
We estimate the total cost of the solar panel system to be approx £17,000, including all solar panels, brackets/stands for securing to the roof, wiring, earthing, inverter, new consumer unit for solar system, air conditioning, delivery, installation in to the existing electrical infrastructure and configuration.
We are confident that this investment will pay for itself over time through heavily reduced energy bills and will allow us to allocate more funds towards our educational initiatives
We are reaching out to you to humbly request your support in raising the necessary funds for this project. Your organization's commitment to supporting education and community development makes you an ideal partner in this endeavour. We would be grateful for any financial assistance you can provide and will of course provide photos and video footage of the entire project from instructing our engineers, delivery, installation and showing the system in live working order.
Thank you for considering our request. We hope you will join us in making a lasting impact on our Jamia and community. We look forward to the opportunity to discuss this project further and explore how we can collaborate to achieve our goals.
We thank you in advance for your help with this desperately needed project.
